Dried butterflies in envelope

We order our butterflies from butterfly farms all over the world.

(See environmental information)

The Butterflies arrive in carefully packed boxes, dried in small envelopes.

We then place them in a container of softening solution where they soften for a few days.

Once soft, we put them on mounting boards, using tweezers, because

you cannot touch the butterflies without damaging their delicate wings.

The butterflies then have to dry for a few days.

After the butterflies are dry, they can carefully be transferred to storage drawers, or placed directly into frames and domes.

Meanwhile, we hand make our wood frames using a wide variety of woods from oak to mahogany. Our frames are stained and sealed with a polyurethane finish.

All of our wood frames are 1 ½ to 2 ½ inch deep shadow boxes, into which we can place a variety backgrounds, from mirrored backing, which allows you to admire the undersides of the real mounted Butterflies, to four light shades of parchment paper, carefully selected to enhance the color of the butterfly in the frame.

We also custom make frames with the backing of your choice.
